Januar 1914 hat Frankreich, wie früher schon England, das deutsche System teilung auf allen seinen Seekarten, in seinen Seehandbüchern, Nachrichten , für Seefahrer und Leuchtfeuerverzeich nissen eingeführt. Damit treten höchst wichtige Aenderungen ein, die im In teresse der Seefchiffsahrt sehr zu be grüßen sind. Die bisherige Zugrunde legung des Meridians von Paris auf allen französischen Seekarten hatte von jeher Umrechnungen erfordert, die nunmehr fortfallen, da vom 1. Januar ab alle Neuerscheinungen oder Neu drucke aus dem Gebiete der Meereskar tographie, soweit sie in Frankreich her ausgegeben werden, als Nullmeridian den Meridian von Greenwich zur Grundlage nehmen. Mit der An nahme der deutschen stompaßeinteilung werden jetzt alle Peilungen und Kurse rechtweisend in Graden von 0 bis 360 sich auch auf allen französischen See karten als Abkürzung für das Wort .Ouest" die Bezeichnung v. Es liegt auf der Hand, daß durch dieses O, das unserem „Osten" entspricht, sehr häu fig schwerwiegende Versehen in Bezug bisher gebräuchlichen v ein VV tritt.
