A gentleman on asked a dist -

the Secret of thist universal, de
mand for Dr Bond's Samaritan
Navin& He said that it was in fact a
genuine medicine--such s compound
as every good physician would presovibe
for
. the disease which it was advertised
to cure. Of course-it costs - law than
any druggist would charge for the same
article supplied ow: physician's pre
scription, and besides, then was a Pav
ing of the doctor's fee in addition..
Moreover, by buying the drugssuch
enormous quantities, and having per
fect apparatus for Compounding the
mixture, he , was not only enabled to
get better, articles in the first place, but
also to present the medicine in better
form and at less price the same prepara
tion could be possibly obtained from
any other source. Dr. Richmond kuus
devoted all his energies to the allevia
tion of human suffering. : , With this end
in view, and with his whole heart in his
great labor 'for the benefit Of the afflict
ed, he -has achieved Baited and Merit-
ed, BUCCe33. There can bo no real
success without true merit. That
his success is real is evidenced by the
fact that his reputation as a man and
physician does not deteriorate, and the
fact thaethere is a .steady increasing
demand for. his Samaritan Nervine
proves that it is no nostrum, but 4 a re
liable remedy. fie has repe:itedlY in
formed the publio that it is no patent
medicine, and no patent has eirer. been
asked for or obtained. Neither &les he
advertise it as a cure-all. Timm sire
hundreds of diseases that he .acknowl-
edges it will not cure. It maylm urged
that some of these diseases are widely
different that it seems absurd to pre
scribe the same remedy. They may
diffet in symptomi, yet in character .be
precisely similar; and then we must
take into censidetstion the fact that
remedies may possess various proper
ties. Thus, some 'medicines are both
tunic and alterative;others may be tonic
and laxative, the properties differing
according to the quantity administered
and the time. and circumstances which
demand its employment. •
In the manufacture of any pharma
oentical preparation ~the parity and
strength of the materials used, and the
requisite machinery to be employed,
are among 'the chief essentials. _The
find is insured by purchasing the in
gredients in large quantities, *hereby
the exercise of greater care in, selecting
the materials can be afforded; and the
second can only be accomplished where
the business is sufficiently • extesive to
warrant a large outlay of capital in pro
curing chemical , apparatme. These"
(acts apply with' especial force to our
medicines, their quality basing , been
vastly improved since-the demand has
become so great as to require their
umunfacture in very large quantities. ,
'These ideas are not mere speculative
remarks to mislead the reader, or to im
bue him with false views of the super
iority of our medicines. While inspect
ing pr. Richmond's establishment you
would be surprised to see the admirable
faculties, both chemical and mechani
cal, which ho employs in the prosecu
tion of his business. Everything is ar
ranged in 'the meet perfectly systematic
order, and while to the general observer
there appears to be, no yoom
, for im
provement, yet new - apparatu s and me
chanical appliances are constantly be
ing procured for the establishment.

adds to its fierce Ares, until it consumes the
vital force and then itself. Like the'gluttonous
tape-worm, it cries " Give, give, give 1': but
never enough until its own rapacity devours it
self. Samaritan 'Corvine gives instant relief in
all such cases. It produces sleep', quiets the
nerves, binds up the nervous system. and re
stores body and mind to a healthy scindition.
