Tbe frosts of last week did very little damage. There will be a two thirds crop of wheat. The prospects are that the corn crop will be a failure, the cause of which was the long dry weather which prevailed in this region previous to last week. Oats are somewhat better than corn, though not over a t0-lhirds crop. The bay crop will be very light on account of the drought. There will probably be a fair yield of potatoes. Fruits, particularly apples, will be very light. The Huntingdon Journal of last week published the following : Maj. Mr. Stewart told him if he was out for illicit Jistiiiets be would recommeud Deputy Marshal John 11. Davidson to accompany him. After being intro duced to Mr. Davidson they started out, pulling up at tbe Washington House, kept by J. W. Hough, where a small package of port wine was found with nn stamp on. He informed Mr. Hough tbat be was liable to a fine which, f.r tbe first off-use, would be 2 50. At this point Davidson called Trout to one eire and informed him that he bad no right to accept money in c-'Uipromise of a case, when Trout showed i'aridon a certificate partly printed and purport ing to be signed by Greene I Itauui, Commissioner of lulernal Revenue This satisfied Davidson. From there they went to Petersburg, vt-tted the co operative store, and Gliding an empty cipir box with the stamp not destroyed informed Mr. fctryker, th manager, that as this was toe first offense they would let him of for $5 00, which was accordingly paid over. They then vis ited Abraham Grafus, hotel-keeper, and for not having a stamp on a small package of port wine Trout informed him that he would let him off by pay ing $5, which was banded over. Rum berger & Bro.'a 6tre was next visited, and for some alleged violation in tbe condition, of a box of tobacco were defrauded of a small amount. Tbey tb?n came back to Huntingdon on the 4:15 train. Shortly after arriving here Trout was denouueed as a fraud by a gentleman at tbe Leister House. He then, in company with Davidson, started out to consult an attorney on the insulting words heaped upon him Davidson's eyes were now open and be concluded to take tbe fellow in custody.
