It is conjectured that a locomotive killed the stranger by pass ing over bim in its passage front the lower to tbe upper part of the yard while be warmed himself at a heap of warm ashes tbat bad been drawn out of a locomotive near tbat point on to tbe railroad. He was mangled and torn out of shape, and could acaroclj bare been recoguixed by hi nearest friends. His clothing was torn into shreds, but those who saw tbe mutilated mass of humanity and torn clothing believe that be wore gray tweed pants, blue drilhug overalls, plaid oversbirt, bfown drilling undershirt, a reddish-colored overcoat, and a light-colored felt hat. L. in ink on his right arm ; blame attaching to no one, bis death believed to have been purely accidental." W. C. Dcncan, a citizen of Harris butg, a freight train condector, by some means fell under bis train as it was coming east on the morning of the 17tb inst., about 5 o'clock, near Vineyard Station, Mifflin county, and was killed. His remains were brought to this place, where a jury of the following named citizens of Patterson was summoned by Justice Doughman : Joseph Peooell, S. R. Notestine, Tbeorus D. Garman, R. 6. Nixon, John C. Thompson. A. II. Fasick. Tbe verdict of tbe jury is, " That the deceased was in charge of a detached -part cf bis train, in the capa city of conductor of said train, and in some accideLtal manner was caught by it and it ran over bim and killed bim on the morning of tbe 17th day of Feb ruary, 1876, about 25 minutes after 5 o'clock, at tbe switch near Vineyard Station, on tbe Pennsylvania Railroad, tn the county of Mifflin, and bis death is believed to have been purely acci dental." Tbe remains of tbe unfortunate man were interred, on Sunday last, at New port, Perry county, of which place he was a native. A family, consisting of a wife and four children mourn bis un timely end. Competent, ex perienced assistants will be employed, and it is the iotention of tbe school to eontinue to merit its present standing as an educational motor.
