There wan a large con gregation in attendance. Every seat was occupied, and many were anable to get into the charch. The Toar Party consists ot fix peo ple, toor of whom constitute a quar tette of Sue siugers. They are : Irvin O. Van Dyke, first tenor; Hngli Cork, sceonil tenor; W. F. Landes, first bass; George P. Sawle, second bass; W. I. Erdman, D. D., Bible instructor and Miss Ermina C. Lincoln, primary worker. There itinerary will cover forty-five oounties of Pennsylvania, with an institute of four ses ions iu eaoh couuty. The exercises Sunday [afternoon, consisted of singing by the qu.rtette, interspersed with selections from the "Tour Party Sougs of Praise," by the ohnruli choir, consisting of twenty well cultivated voices. Following sev eral selections by the choir, and con gregation, Secretary Laumr ter led in prayer. Rev. Mr. Sherman, | astor of the First Baptist chjrch, read the les son. Before the qaartetto rendered its first song, Mr. Landes saul: "I trust that you will not expect too much of us. You will get nothing olassical; nothing but plain gospel songs. Two weeks ago some of the members of this quartette were stiang ers. We had never mot, much leis sang together. Consequently our inter course has been brief. Tireu we are haudioapped iu another manner. We are all suffering with severe colds. Duiing the early stages of the preseot cold snap, our voices became frozen. Ttiree of as have become pretty near ly thawed out, bat the vocal chords of the fourth are rathi r too frigidly iu olined for qood singing. " Notwithsanding his statement and the fact that the members of the quar tette were in the condition he repre sented them to be, they sang with muoh sweetness, rauge and power. Hugh Cork, the second tonor singer, gave an interesting talk 011 Sunday Sohools and the duties involving upon Sunday School teaohers. Of the vast number of Sunday School scholars in Pennsylvania, less than one-third of them were not within the pale of the ohurch. What a great thing it would be oould every Sundßy School scholar in the State be started out to wotk for Christ. There should bo more in the ohnioh, and that there are not shows something radically wrong somewhere. One reason is that we do not hate enough. A Christian's duty is to hate. I have uutil recently always prayed that hate would be driven from my heart and only love li 3 allowed to re main. I have qnit that, acd am now praying for power to hate somethings. Why do I say this? Li tme tell you : "During the dark days of slavery, a young man visit d Kentucky. While there he saw a slave tie d to a post and his master cruelly beating him. The scene so enraged the young man and filled him with such a hatred toward slavery that he said: 'lf I ever get tlia opportunity I will strike a harder blow at slavery thau that mast er is striking that poor colored man and revenge him.' When Abraham Linooln signed the emancipation pro clamation that young man had his ro venue. Sin is tylug us up tighter than ever that blaok mau was tied, and the cords are outting into our soola deeper than the iasli did into his flesh. As Abraham Linooln hated slavery so Bhould every Chris tian hate sin. Let no opportun ity go by to strike a blow at it." The speaker then urged the noceß sity of personal work. Speak to your friends of Christianity. Ask them to come out for Oliiist. There are too many people in all congregations who have no personal knowledge of Christ. They are on the church roll, but for another purpose than that of working for the Master. A Sleighing Party. A party of young girls enjoyed a sleigh ride to Mausdale on Saturday afternoon, where they were entertain ed at the home of Mr. and Mr*. Harry Wintersteeu.
