The ship James Buchanan was wrecked on the Irish Coast. The Rusrians bare met with a most dis astrous defeat near Bayak, in Cireassis, where they were attacked by 10,000 Cir cassians and forced to retreat, with a loss of 2000 men and their artillery. The hostilities were continued at Canton, and the American vessels have become fully engaged iu the struggle. The expla nation is that the Chinese having offered a price fur the heads of the English, some American heads. were sent in by mistake. There are uo further particulars in relation to it. Redpath the ex-Secretary of the North ern English Railroad Company, who swin dled his employers out of a million of dol lars, had been convicted by tLe jury after an absence of five miuutes- His alleged accomplice, Keut, was acquitted. Redpath was sentenced to transportation for life. The returns show that 150 vessels were driven ashore, and eighty totally wrecked, and many others damaged during the late frightful gale on the coast of the United Kiugdom, involving a great loss of life. A terrible hurricauc devasted the Phili pine Islaods on the 27th of Octeber. The subarbs of Manilla aud the neighboring villages were reduced to heaps of ruins. The number of houses destroyed at that place, is about 3500. The official returns show that more than 10,000 were destroy ed within a circuit of eight leagues around Manilla.
