The National Republican Convention met at Pittsburg on the 22d inst., and was very largely attended. Francis P. Dlair, Ltq., of Jackson memory, aud a Souther ner, was President, and quite a number of lcadihg Free Soil politicians were in at tendance. Gen. Markle was Vice Pres ident from Pennsylvania. The Conven tion adjourned on Saturday afternoon, af ter adopting a lengthy address reviewing the aggressions of Slavery since the orga nization of the Governincut. Tie platform adopted is indicated by the following res olutions: Pint Demands the repeal of all laws made for the introduction of slavery into territory once consecrated to Freedom, and resistance to the existence of slavery in any territory of the I'nited Statets. Second Promises to support our breth ren in Kansas iu resistance to lawicss iu Tasion ; and urges the admission of Kan sas into the Union, as a free, sovereign and independent State. Third Kettering the President ot the United States to have fully identified Lini clf with the policy of acquiring more Slave territory, makes it the leading pur pose of the party to oppose and overthrow the present administration. Another National Convention will bo Lcld at Philadelphia on the 17th of June the 81st Anniversary of the battle of Bunker Dill to nominate Republican Candidates for Preaident and ice Presi- ; dent, and a State Convention will be held i at the same place on the 10th. Some 50 or CO sccedcrs from the Convention among them Ex Gov. Colby, of N. II., F.i-Gov. Johnston, of Pa., Lieut Gov. Ford, of Ohio subsequently met, and published the following Address : To the American Party of the Vulan : The undersigned Delegates to the Nation al Nominating Convention, now in session at Philadelphia, find themselves compelled to dissent from the principles avowed by that body. And holding the opinion, as they do, that the restoration of the Mis souri Compromise, demanded by the free men of the North, is redress of an unde niable wrong, and the insertion of it in spirit at least indispensable to the repose of the country, they have regarded the refusal of that Convention to recognize the well defined opinions of the North, and of the Americana of the Free States, upon this question, as a denial of their right and a rebuke of their sentiments. They have therefore withdrawn from the Nominating Convention, refusing to participate in tho proposed nominations, and now address themselves to tho Amer icans of the country, especially of the States they represent, to justify and ap provo their action ; and to this end that nominations conforming to the overruling sentiments of the country on the great issue, may be regularly and auspiciously made, the undersigned propose to the Americans in all the States, to assemble in their separate State organizations, and that Delegates be sent to the Convention to meet in the city of New York, on Thursday, the 19th of June next, for the purpose of nominating candidates for President and Vice President of the United States. We learn from tho Philadelphia press, and it affords us great pleasure to announce the fact, that the troubles and difficulties which have heretofore operated to retard the prosecution of tho Sunbury Si Erie Railroad, have been happily adjusted and removed, and that a new administration, with S. V. Merrick, Esq., at its head, has been organized, which promises to accom plish highly important results. The late board of Directors, actuated by a commen dable spirit of self-denial, resigned in a body, aud the selection of the new board, it is understood, was made under the aus pices of Mr. Merrick, and the moneyed men of Philadelphia.
