These Manuscripts and Books, of littlo value to the possessor, but of great value to the public, are fast disappearing. At every house-cleansing, and every remo val, many of them are destroyed, to get rid of the truuLle of finding a place for them. The PENNSYLVANIA STATE LIB RARY is the proper Depository for all J tuch works. They will thero be accessiblo to every individual who may come to the Seat of Government, and have the curiosi ty to look at them, and they will be safely kept for the perusal and examination of future Historians and Antiquarians. A Mass Convention of the friends of Temperance will be held in ltcadiug,Berks County, on Wednesday the 8th of August, to commence at 10 o'clock, A. M. As the enemies of the lafe Liquor Law are making the most determined efforts for its repeal, it is important that all its friends should attend this Convention. No one net-J wait to be appointed a Dele gate, as all who come will be members. Come to the jubilee and show the friends and foes of the law that it cannot ba re pealed, except by the passage of more btringent one. The ' Old Court House and Offices," f f Montgomery county, were sold by the Commissioners, at publio salo, on Wednes day of last week. The Court House was purchased by Gabriel Kolin, Esq., for J331; the Office by Charles Briggs, (ot 120. The marble steps, iron doors in the Offices, and a largo lot of furniture were sold extra.
