Voted that Vice Presidents furnish at our next meeting a complete list of Members from their respective Districts, and pay over the admission fees, that Committees may be appointed, and the pecuniary abil ity of the Society ascertained. Not one of the Officers of that Borough or any of the adjacent Townships was at the meeting of tho Board, Tuesday last The necessity of liberal arrange ments, in giving comfort and satisfaction to those who may honor the first effort of the kind in our county by their presence and contributions, must not be lost sight of. There are some Townships where we be lieve that as yet no members have been obtained for the Society. At the Sep tember Court, every Member should be reported, and the money paid, that the Board may know in season who to appoint as Judges, and also what amount of money shall be in the Treasury, that no debt may be iucuri'od. If the Vice Presidents named will not attend to it, let some well-wisher " take the responsibility." Premiums. Some S200 in all, are offered for Pre miums at the First Fair of the Union County Agricultural Society. We ask all our subscribers to circulate this informa tion among their neighbors, and iuduce a healthy emulation. She struck on a suuken rock and bung about midships, with ten , fathoms water all around. Afier grounding heavily about lj min utes, ehe went off and struck on another rock, within a few rods of the first, when she pounded a few times and went off. We then let go tbo anchors, and commenc ed getting out the boats the passengers at tbe pumps, but could not keep her free. At midnight, found 4 feet water in the hold. At 4 A. M., weather black and squally, with a heavy sea, 8 feet water in the hold, both pumps going; 7 A.M., 10 feet water, and the ship going down, mates ; and crew in the boats, together with as many passenger as could be stowed in the long boat and life boat, the other two boats having been stoved after launching; I at 8 A. M., left her, and in a few minutes ! she went down, the Great Isaacs bearing E. S. E., 7 wiles distant. After leaving the ship some hours, sawa bark, apparent ly bound to Europe, heave to in the direc tion of the long boat and life boat, and supposed the was engaged in picking them up. Stubuokn. A man in Lancaster coun ty refused to pay bis school tas, 1.00, when the constable sold bis hcrscfor ill2 took out the tax and costs, and tendered the balance. He wcu'J not take it, and said it must be paid to E.-q. Miller, bis agent, residing some miles distant. The constable refused to do so; the man prose cuted, went to court, lost bis case, and paid the costs. Satirliciiun, with a veu- fcanc The body of an unknown German, was found in the Canal, near Watsoutown, on Thursday week, supposed to have been murdered by an Irishman named Andrew Larney. The two men were employed on the Sunbury & Erie Railroad, and were known to have had some difficulty a few days previously. Larney has been arrest ed and lodged in the jaiUit Sunbury. A house belonging to Mr. Worthington, in JLny township, Lycoming Co., was destroyed by fire on Sunday morning last. The family were absent from home at the time, and consequently but one or two ar ticles of furniture were s.xved.
