FOOTBALL "I want to be WARM play that I can," said the short spoken Colasanti. "I'm just trying to take advantage of every play" If there are knocks on Colasanti, critics say he's slow to the ball, not quick enough at identifying plays and allows runners to go into him instead of aggressively tackling opponents. Colasanti, though, leads the Big Ten in tackles per game (9.3) and is second overall in total tackles in the conference. Michigan State's Greg Jones has 69 overall tackles while Colasanti has 65. These statistics are somewhat skewed because other than his 18- tackle performance against Illinois, Colasanti's 13-tackle game against Youngstown State is the only other time he has had more than seven tackles in a game. Injuries to linebackers Mike Mauti, Bani Gbadyu and Gerald Hodges forced Colasanti, along with freshman Khairi Fortt, to step up in the Illinois game. Both did so.
