Herman added he is very opti mistic that more resources will be available for higher educa tion. Throughout the day, students met with their senators and rep resentatives to inform them about the rally and ask for their support CCSG Vice President Wendy Flynn met with her state repre sentative, Merle Phillips, R- Northumberland and Snyder, and they discussed the impor tance of opening a dialogue between students and legisla tors. "formal request [to use the image] would be accompanied by a big check" CORED has come up with many suggestions, including a blue and white historical marker, of which there are many cur rently erected in various areas of campus to honor events in the history of the university. Many CORED members expressed concern that students do not pay attention to the mark ers. CORED member Teresa Hilgren said although her curiosity drives her to read the markers, she agrees that many Columbus (senior-marketing) and Hannah will replace Jathes S. Young (senior-journalism). Young said he thinks Hannah will do a fantastic job. "She's bringing in lots of fresh ideas that are really going to improve the paper," he said. "She's been extremely dedicated to the Collegian, and she'll be learning all about it" ballet dub,' it's like, 'Well, I'm in the.walking away from you dub," he said jokingly. Mossman's friend, Nate Charny (sophomore-English), said that when Mossman joined the ballet club, it did not surprise him at all. "Tyler is very outgoing, and he doesn't care about any sort of stereotypes people would have about boys doing ballet or any thing like that," Charny said. Mossman said his parents had a similar reaction. "They just said, 'Well, nothing you do surprises us anymore,' Mossman said, adding that they mare to all of his performances. "They wouldn't miss it for the world," he said. "They're more for the humor than the expertise of dance that I display" absorbed star that one might have expected him to be. A strong blocking area of high pressure will keep the northern half of the country storm-free for the next few days. This will force the unsettled weather to affect the southern half of the country. Snow fell widely across Oklahoma and northern Texas last night and will continue into today across much of the same area. The weather here, how ever will slowly warm up, as the effects of spring will begin to be felt more and more as the Vernal Equinox nears. Phillips said in 25 years, Flynn was the only student that ever visited him about tuition con cerns. "If nobody tells me, I won't know," he said "There is not a legislator that would not make time for his con stituents, especially a student," Phillips added. Flynn said meeting face-to face with legislators is a vital part of lobbying. "[President] Spanier or a pro fessional [lobbyist] can speak to the House or the Senate, but they aren't the ones directly affected by it," she said. "This way they can put a face to it" USG and CCSG representa- students do not have the time or desire to stop and read them. Another idea is to construct a sitting area with a reflecting pond or fountain. "I think a more feasible idea is to have the marker and a sitting area like Atherton's grave," Ablan said. "Somewhere to reflect" Ablan said no monetary esti mates have been set. Depending on what is chosen to commemo rate the event, CORED, the class gift fund or the Blue and White Society could provide funding. Ablan said the sugges tions will be discussed further at Hannah said she plans to offer Smith a position as managing editor (news) "With Bridget and me at the "I look forward to working helm, it's gonna be amazing," with both of them next year," he Hannah said. said. Lisa Kolesar (senior-elemen tary education), who dances in Vole, said Mossman has improved dramatically "He's been so diligent about paying attention to all the cor rections," Kolesar said. "He's always willing to learn whatever he can." Last year, Vole selected Moss man for the lead role of Ebenez er Scrooge in its spring rendition of Charles Dickens' A Christmas Carol.
