(AP) Fbrmer men's basketball coach Jud Heathcote gave Michigan State a national title in 1979. Now, the universi ty plans to give Heathcote a gift of its own: a gym named in his honor. Michigan State's Board of Trustees was expected to approve the naming of the gym on Friday. The Jud Heathcote Gymnasium is one of two practice gyms in Breslin Center's newly reno nd expanded basketball com plex. The second gym is expected to be named for Forest Akers, a former Michigan State trustee whose trust contributed $1 million to the new facili ty The university says having two auxil iary gyms will allow both the men's and women's basketball teams to practice without conflict and provide space for other events. (AP) The Strath Haven-West Allegheny PIAA Class AAA title games have been so good, the. teams felt it worth repeating. Again. The two schools will meet in thin f finals Friday in Hershey for the third straight season, the first time that has happened since the PIAA p started in 1988.
