WPSU-FM, the student-run campus radio sta
tion, started its annual on-air fundraiser Monday,
asking for donation pledges to help cover costs, the
WPSU program directdr said.
Pat Donovan said the station, which is partly
funded by the University, will continue the drive
through Nov. 17.
"What we're allocated is nowhere near enough,"
said Donovan, "when you consider the cost of
equipment, records and advertising among other
things."

Assistant station manager Jeff Daley said the
station does not have a fund-raising goal.
"Our only goal is to raise more each year,"
Daley said "We'd like to raise a lot more than
$3,000," tile amount raised last year.
Although there are no figures yet, Donovan said
pledges have been coming in at a much higher rate
than last year, with the station averaging "a
couple hundred dollars in pledges a day."
Donovan said there are several "pledge incen
tives," including record giveaways to high bidders
and entrance for anyone who pledges more than

Jane Moyer who also attended the
conference said the "superwoman"
stereotype was emphasized through
out the conference and other non-tra
ditional women's roles were not
discussed.
"No one talked about the ERA,
about equal rights and equal pay or
abortion rights," Moyer said.
The conference stressed adopting
male attributes rather than attempt
ing to change society's perceptions of
women, Gilmore said.
. Because of their dissatisfaction
with the conference, women there
developed informal groups to discuss
these problems, Gilmore said.
"We got together informally with
others who were disillusioned with
the conference and went over these
things ourselves," Gilmore said.
St. The station will also offer entrance in a draw
ing for a football and a Penn State jersey, each
autographed by Joe Paterno, in exchange for
donations.
Donovan said WPSU will broadcast a promotio
nal spot for the fund-raiser done by former Penn
State wide receiver Jimmy Cefalo and will feature
Interfraternity Council president John Rooney as
disc jockey on a show next week.
Daley said some off-air fundraising activities
are also scheduled. Station employees will be
canning on College Avenue and on the Mall, and
handing out record singles in exchange for dona
tions.
