Bryant, one of the league's top rushers, didn't practice all week because of a hamstring pull. But he rushed for three touchdowns and 114 yards on 27 carries as the Stars remained tied with the New Jersey Generals atop the USFL's Atlantic Division. Harvin rushed for 71 yards on 15 carries. Mora said he was satisfied with Sunday's victory, but a little con cerned about his team's defense, which gave up only 42 yards on the ground, but yielded 344 yards in the air. The New York Islanders have won four straight Stanley Cups. Their "Drive for Five" begins tomor row night at home against their local rivals, the Rangers, in .the best-of-five opening round of the NHL playoffs. If the Islanders can capture the championship again this spring, they will tie the all-time record of five consecutive Cups set by the Montreal Canadiens from 1956-60. And they'll have won an incredible 20 straight playoff series. • "That's behind us but it gives us inspiration," said defenseman Denis Potvin, the anchor of a strong defensive corps and a superb point man on the power play, especially in the playoffs. "We know what we've done before but we can't dwell on it. We can learn from it, though, and use it. "I grew up with the Montreal Canadiens and tying their record would be a great achievement." The Islanders seem primed for their assault on the record book. But you did not," the letter said. It called North Korea's new response "fortunate." There was no immediate indication in Seoul of how successful the attempt might be to form a unified North- South team now. However, Chung's letter opened with bitter criticism of North Korea for a terrorist bombing last Oct. 9 at Rangoon, Burma, that killed 17 South Koreans in an appar ent attempt on the life of President Chun Doo-hwan. The letter called the bombing a crime "against not only compatriots who share the same blood but against 'all peace-loving peoples of the world." "It was not a monetary situation," the owner of the NFL franchise told the lunch-hour crowd that streamed into the new domed stadium to greet him. "We did talk to several other cities, and we did have better (finan cial) offers." Taking questions from members of the news media, he said the main reason for leaving Baltimore was that "you people of the press were hounding my family for two years, and I wasn't about to take any more of your hounding." Irsay said he decided last week to make the move after he "woke up and saw the governor (of Maryland) put a bill through the legislature (to allow seizure of the team through eminent domain). "It's not your ball team, it's not their ball team," he said. "It's my family's ball team. I paid for it, and I worked for it." Attorney David Frick, a former deputy mayor and current treasurer of the Capital Improvements Board that on Saturday approved the Colts' 20-year lease to play in the Hoosier Dome, said the city has been notified of possible legal action against the Colts by Baltimore officials. Frick said the board's attorneys "have advised us we can't talk at all about the negotia tion process" involving the move. In Baltimore, city officials were still looking into their legal options and were awaiting an official re sponse from the Colts to a temporary restraining order issued Friday by a city circuit court judge. "We're in the process of checking out what happened out there (in Indianapolis) last week," said Andy Hartmann, a deputy city solicitor. lie said a court hearing would be scheduled within two days of the Colts' response to the judge's order, but that no such hearing had been scheduled yet.
