The newspaper said Tose has for mulated the plans because of his age and, to reduce the team's indebted ness, estimated at between $l4 mil lion and $l6 million. "Yes, I want to leave it (the team) to her," Tose told the Inquirer. "What does every Jewish father want?" There have been persistent rumors that Tose is in financial troubles and cannot afford the team's losses, but the owner denied those reports as recently as Monday at a news confer ence announcing that Coach Dick Vermeil was resigning and would be replaced by Marion Campbell. Mrs. Fletcher said she has taken an active interest in. For information call 237-0363 Herbert, lady cagers whip Syracuse By GREG LODER Collegian Sports Writer After missing a practice last week, center Kahadeejah Herbert was benched from the women's basketball team's starting lineup for a game Saturday night. Some may think of it revenge for the disciplinary action levied upon her, but Herbert answered back in the Lady Lions' 86-69 win last night over Syracuse at Manley Field House with her best game of her career. The sophomore from Willingboro, N.J., scored,24 points coming off the bench on 10 field goals from the floor and she went four of six from the line. Herbert is now averaging more , than 12 points a game and more than seven rebounds. The win.over Syracuse (7-6) is the second game for the Lady Lions where things are just begining to come together. The previous lack luster play of Penn State, even in victory, ended Saturday night in a 98-58 victory over the University of Connecticut. "It was a great win," Penn State Head Coach Rene Portland said after the game, which is her fourth win in a row. With things seeming to get on the right track now, just in time for the Lady Lions Coca• Cola Classic at home this weekend, Penn .State seems to be over any previous atti tude problems, which existed among team members earlier in the season. In last night's game, it took Penn State and Herbert a while to get started. PSYCHOLOGY MAJORS COME to Psi Chi's 'Psych Night'. Meet proges sors and learn about field. Please call Mark 238-0776 .With the Lady Lions leading 36-33 and Syracuse making a charge in the first half, Herbert hit on six straight unanswered points to give the Lady Lions a nine-point lead. Herbert scored 17 of her 24 points in the first half: Herbert played an identical game with senior forward Cheryl Ellison, who also scored 24 points on 10 field goals and four of six from the line. Ellison, who is avaraging a team high 14 points a game, got a most of her points on offensive rebounds. With their individual statistics the same, together the front line of Ellison and Herbert may have played an even more important role together. The Orangewomen have a large front line, which was headed by 6-4 center Chris Palombi. Penn State offset the inside strength 'of Syra buse by coming right out and at tacking the middle of the Orangewomen's defense. Result Palombi had three fouls less than six minutes into the game and ended up fouling out with 8:59 to play. With Palombi on the bench in foul trouble, Ellison and Herbert were free to do whatever they pleased inside, which was the difference fo the more balanced Lady Lions. For the Orangewomen, forward Annne Flannery ended the game with 19 points and Palombi scored 12 points. Behind the show put on by Her bert and Ellison was guard' Carol Walderman with 12 points and start ing forward Louise Leimkuhler scoring eight points.
