Booters shoot for Final Four encore showing By RICH SCARCELLA Daily Collegian Sports Writer It may be difficult for some fans to believe, but soccer coach Walter Bahr is concerned about Penn State’s chances of qualifying this year for the National Collegiate Athletic Association tour nament. That’s like Jerry Lewis worrying about his annual Labor Day telethon not receiving $2O million in pledges. Those things should be taken for granted. After the Lions advanced to the NCAA Final Four last season, Bahr should be overjoyed with having nine of 11 Nittany Lion starters returning instead of fretting as if the ballboys were the only ones coming back. , “Our major problem is that we had success last year,” Bahr said. “The most difficult thing for us to do is to be successful again. One good season could be like a honeymoon. You also could get a lot of bounces in that year. “It’s more difficult to put a good second year together. When you have a string of good years, the second year is a lot more crucial than the third, fourth or fifth years.” The two starters gone from last year’s club are Penn State’s all-time leading scorer Jim S.tamatis and hustling midfielder Malik Kermouche.
