University planning charter flights For Penn State football fans who want to see more of the Nittany Lions than what a 12-inch television screen can afford, the University is making arrangements. ' The University is planning to charter two flights from Harrisburg to Phoenix for the Fiesta Bowl. One flight will leave Dec. 24 and the other on Dec. 25. The Dec. 24 departure date is for a four-night, four-and-one-half-day trip. The student cost is $319. a person based on a double occupancy room. The price includes airfare, transportation to and from the airport and to and from the game. However, it does not include the $lO price of the game ticket. The Dec. 25 departure date is for a 3- night, 4-day trip and will cost the student $299. Again, the price is based on a double occupancy. room and does not include the cost of the game ticket. Moore, the first head of the University's Department of Psychology, died Nov. 14 after being stricken at his home in State College. Moor . e, professor emeritus of psychology at his retirement in 1952, joined the University faculty in 1920 as an assistant professor of psychology. He was appointed head of the psychology department when it was reorganized in 1928. The psychology department's office building was named in his honor in 1972. Moore was the first person in the nation to' obtain a degree in industrial psychology when he was named doctor of philosophy at Carnegie-Mellon University in 1921. He earned his bachelor of arts and master of arts 230 Calder Way degrees from Indiana University at Bloomington, Ind. Moore served as an officer on numerous national • psychology associations and was the author of several books on industrial psychology. New candidate wants. tax .cut Warren County attorney William F. Clinger Jr., Republican candidate for the 23rd U.S. Congressional district, said in a press release that he would vote fbr an across-the-board federal tax cut. Newman was appointed professor-in-charge of the University's graduate nursing programs laSt month. She also will serve as professor of nursing in the College of Human Development. Interest charges to date are $325,000 enough to pay four-year full tuition for 64 students. During yesterday's session, the House of Representatives in Harrisburg did not pass the tax increase needed to ap propriate money to the state-related universities. But University Controller Steve A. Garban said, "Sooner or later common sense will prevail." Garban said the University is holding back on maintenance and temporary repairs until money becomes available.
