"He kept throwing and throwing well. I didn’t think they’d be able to throw that well on us,” said Washington Coach Don James. Cal’s offense has produced the Back of the Week twice in a row, a rarity, but the Bears have some rare talent on the unit that leads the nation with its average of 451 yards a game. Tailback Chuck Muncie won the national honor a week earlier. “We have just a beautifully engineered offense. There’s always a play to go to, depending on what the defense is doing,” said Roth. Among the 180 runners and possible favorites are Charlie McGuire and Greg Frederick, who won last year’s individual crown, along with current Lion harriers George Malley and Paul Stemmer, both of whom have placed high in all’of PSU’s 1975 meets. The Philadelphia Pioneer Track Club, last year’s team winner, will be in the field Sunday, as will the Guantico Marines, which narrowly lost to Penn State earlier in the year but has since added two runners. The open division race, which includes the college teams, track clubs, and any others who decided to enter will get underway at 12:30 p.m. At the NCAA meet, the course will be the same but the numbers larger, as the Harry Groves-coached Penn Staters go against the likes of national powers Texas-El Paso and Washington, both of which rely heavily on Kenyan runners, and Michigan, a narrow winner over the Lions in the Central Collegiates race November 1. Groves says he expects about 260 in dividuals in the NCAA meet, with around 70 colleges represented. Only 38 schools, however, will be involved in the team competition. ~~~~— ~~ ? ads ormahon FREE \ I I HIS I <)( \ | JO\ OM \ ( 'Nf > i ) iP< )N H ' 'R| »E W "ACROSS FROM OLD MAIN" "ABOVE MY-O-MY BAR" Entrance Front & Rear (Boro Parking Garage) 237^481 Pete DougherU ... you just did!*
