Pill, breast cancer I BERKELEY, Calif. (UPI) A new breast cancer study said yesterday that some women who use birth control pills may face a greater risk of developing the disease. The study was conducted by medical researchers at the University of California and the California Department of Health. It said that although there is no evidence that birth control pills are a direct cause of breast cancer, there may be increased risks for: Women who have taken the pill for two to four years, possibly a critical period for developing breast cancer in those most susceptible. Whalen, a 30-year-old convicted burglar turned FBI informant, was not at home at the time of the blast. Whalen charged that the 50- year-old Swainson, along with former bail' bondsman Harvey Wish, were involved in a bribery scheme aimed at getting Whalen a new trial. A federal court jury acquitted Swainson of bribery conspiracy but convicted him on three counts of lying to a grand jury investigating the accusations__ Wish was con victed of bribery conspiracy. Whalen also gave , in formation recently that led to the arrest of 13 persons in a fencing operation in the Detroit area which police said nets $4.5 million a year. Whalen is scheduled to testify in their trial. A spokesman for the Wayne County Organized Crime Task force said the explosion apparently was related to the information Whalen supplied in the fencing operation. (UPI) Lynette Fromme yesterday tried without success to challenge seating as a potential juror a former military weapons instructor who told the court, "You don't point a gun unless you are going to use it." Fromme, accused of trying to murder President Ford with a military-issue automatic pistol, said the former instructor, Marion R. Brentlinger, might not be able to "divorce himself from his training." But - later, Fromme tried to seat as a potential juror Yuba City, Calif. carpenter Frank B. Duncan, who admitted he thought she was guilty. "This is a valuable juror," she said. "He's honest." Brainwash experts back Hearst 'SAN FRANCISCO (UPI) The conclusions of two brainwash experts who examined Patricia Hearst will buttress her defense that she was a brutalized victim of the Symbionese Liberation Army, her attorneys said yesterday. A judge's ruling on her competency to stand trial is expected today.
