ADS NAACURH urges student input \ By CATHY CIPOLLA Collegian Staff Writer Students will have more respect for University facilities if they have more say in their residence hall lifestyles, according to Joel Rudy, regional advisor of the North Atlantic Affiliate of College and University Residence Halls. NAACURH is one of six affiliates of the National Association College and Residence Halls, (NACURH), a national organization to improve residence hall living. Last week, ARHS sponsored NAACURH’s second regional conference, attended by approximately 60 students involved in residence hall activities here and at other colleges and universities. The first conference was held in May at West Virginia University. Both were entitled “Communication.” From Wednesday through Saturday, the delegates and advisors participated in conference meetings and workshops ANY We’re looking for 200 hardware-oriented BS(EE) and MS(EE) graduates We have more than 200 openings for graduating en gineers in our Equipment Engineering Divisions the company’s largest hardware design area. These openings include assignments in our Rotation and Fellowship pro grams as well as full-time spe cialized assignments. If you have a yen to de sign the actual components and subsystems for fire-con trol radar, missiles, and so phisticated sensors and guid ance systems, we have just the opportunity for you. You will need a BS(EE) or MS(EE). You will need talent, too because you’ll be working side by side with some of the best engineers in the business. Your future with Hughes will be up to you. There’ll be plenty of opportunity for ad vancement because we’re a company that’s steadily held in residence hall areas. The NAACURH Communication Conference meetings were business meetings concerning the internal structure of NAACURH. Shauna Hill of the University of Delaware said the meetings were striving to “bring ideas to residence halls all over the United States.” As a result of these conferences, a director was appointed for each state with schools belonging to NAACURH. Penn State’s Joe Davidson was appointed State Director for Pennsylvania. * formed to asist schools needing help with forming residence hall government, communicating with administrators and other problems. The workshops were round-table discussions which included both member and non-member schools. Maureen Conrad, NAACURH regional director, said the purpose of the workshops was “to help others and share growing. While other aero space companies have suf fered cutbacks and layoffs, we’ve been setting new sales records and our employment record has been exceptionally stable. Today we’re at work on more than 550 programs and projects in 80 disciplines. CAMPUS INTERVIEWS November 5 Contact College Placement Office,to arrange interview appointment. i 1 iHUGHESi HUGHES AIRCRAFT COMPANY U.S. citizenship required Equal opportunity M/F employer ideas.” Each of the 23 workshops discussed a topic affecting residence hall students,' such as legal rights, residence hall; security and students as consumers. ' According to conference. Chairman. Rebe Dublisky, most delegates found the workshop on decision-making, presented; by A. Craig Millar, assistant vice, president for Student affairs, one of the: most outstanding. Other successful workshops were “ Student Power Through Politics’''., presented by USG President Mark Jinks, and “Effective Leaders... Born oii Made?” led by Cammilla Colantonio. Rudy, of Kent State University, said he hoped this conference would be “a; modernization of ‘NAACURH” and “a break awdy from the old mold.” He’ stressed the importance of a residential" life program and the difference betweeai • residence halls as a learning experience’ and dormitories, which he said are just; places to live. This year we especially need electro-optical, micro circuit, guidance and controls; components and materials., circuit design, product design,' laser.and radar engineers.and systems programmers. It may be that more than one employment area of our company will be recruiting on your campus on the same day. Please try to sign up on the schedule that is most appro priate’for you. It will not be necessary to have more than one interview, although you may if there is time. For additional informa tion, please contact your Col lege Placement Director or — if we are not scheduled to recruit on your campus—f write: Mr. Robert A.
