PAGE FOUR Tennis To Open; Frosh Hold Key The tennis team may be tiring of all the bad weather jokes that have grown up around sports this week, since the , netmen are the only ones who have a place to play. Today's match with West Virginia will come off in the indoor courts 'hear the Ice Pavilion at 2 p.m. Besides sitting in indoor comfort, the fans will see good ...tennis. West Virginia was undefeated a year ago and has lost 'only one player. State suffered through a disappointing 3-5 season, but has also lost only one man and seems improved ff a fine 5-3 showing against seasoned competition in the term break exhibition season. Coach Holmes Cathrall will choose from among lettermen Art Avery, Bob Claraval, Pete Fass, Joe Kaplan, Cliff Myers and Charlie Shiflett. plus four talented freshmen. The big story is those freshmen. Doug Pollack, Walker Shivar, Al Umano and Tom Wright are all expected to com pete somewhere and Wright and Shivar may fill the first doubles slot. West Virginia, of course, will provide tough competition and is a tough test for freshmen, no matter how talented. If Cathrall's charges win today, look for a fine tennis season. New Hampshire Plans To Take in Patriots CONCORD. N.H. (AP) Gov. Walter Peterson formally unveiled plans yesterday for New Hampshire to offer the homeless Boston Patriots a 50.000-seat stadium adjacent to Rockingham Park at Salem near the Massachusetts bor der. Peterson's announcement of the planned stadium site only 30 minutes drive from Boston in this small state of about 730,000 population and the Arnie's Putter on Fire GREENSBORO, N.C. (AP) Arnold Palmer, with a wild, milling mob following him, fired a brilliant, seven-under-par 64 yesterday and tied Tommy Aaron for the first-round lead in the 5130,000 Greater Greensboro Open golf tournament. The dynamic millionaire, who took a week off last week to prepare his game for next week's Masters, had eight birdies and a single bogey—but said a couple of key par putts made his round. "I had a second putt of about 15 feet on the second hole and made it." Palmer said. "That kind of seemed to get me going a little."
