PAGE TEN University Announces Changes The following appointments have been announced by /the University for the coming year. The appointments and positions are effective both at University Park and at commonwealth campuses. Maurice Inman, associate professor of mechanical engineering, has been named associate professor of metal lurgy in the department of materials science. i He will serve also as electron microscopist in the Mineral Constitution Laboratories and will be in charge Of the electron microscope section. Kenneth C. Madden, who received his doctor of edu cation degree at the University in 1950 in educational ad ministration under 0; H. Aurand and Hugh M. Davison, has been named State Superintendent of Public Instruction for the State of Delaware. He had been superintendent, Special School District, Seaford, Del, • Virginia Zilliax Virginia Zilliax, teaching fellow at the University of Pittsburgh sncie 1964, has been named instructor in English at the Beaver Campus of the University. J Miss Zilliax received, her bachelor of arts degree in English from Wellesley College, and her master of arts degree in English from Mills College, Oakland, Calif. She served as a fellow in humanities at Mills College horn 1959 to 1960, and as an English teacher at. Woburn Senior High School from 1957 to 1958. Herbert Findlen Hr horti' Alt, .erbert Findlen, research horticulturist with the Department of Agriculture, has been appointed adjunct assistant professor with the College of Agriculthre at the University. Serving with the department of agricultural engineer ing for a' nine month period as of September, Findlen will work with Nuredin N. Mohsenin on research related to physical properties of fruits and vegetables. Before coming to the University Findlen carried out research on quality evaluation of potatoes and sweet pota toes for the Plant Indutry Station of the U.S. Department of Agriculture, Beltsville, Md. Earlier he was horticultural field station leader for the U.S. Department of Agriculture at East Grand Forks, Minn. He is the author or co-author of 35 technical publica tions on potatoes. He - received the doctor of philosophy degree from . Cornell University in 1950 and the bachelor of science degree from the University of Maine in 1942. Associated with the U.S. _Department of Agriculture since 1949, Findlen has worked primarily on quality main tenance and evaluation in harvesting, handling, storage, and shipping of potatoes and sweet potatoes. Peirce Lewis Peirce F. Lewis, professor of geography at the Uni versity, has ben appointed to a three-year term as a mem ber of the Steering Committee of the High School Go graphy Project, sponsored by the National Science Founda tion and the Association of American Geographers. Kreitzberg Carl W. Kreitzberg, of the Air Force Cambridge Re search Laboratories near Boston, Mass., has been named assistant profeSsor of meteorology, at the University. Besides teaching, he will supervise and conduct re search into the structure and dynamics of mesoscale cir culations, which range in size from 10 miles to 5,000 miles. His specialty is the integration of information obtained fiom surface reports, radars, balloon-born instruments, air craft, and satellites to determine the mechanisms responsi ble for winds, clouds and precipitation. Touchstone has joined the University faculty as associate professor of education in the department of educational services. He comes from Centenary College, Shreveport, La., where he served as associate professor of psychology and director of the counseling and testing center. Besides teaching, Touchstone will be responsible for the recruitment, selection, and advising of graduate stu dents in the Rehabilitation Counselor Education Program: He holds two degrees in psychology from Purdue Uni versity. They are master of science and doctor of philoso phy.
