The terse announcement of the deal, for an unannounced amount of cash and a player to be named later, didn't tie the two develop ments together but there were strong signs that they were con nected. ‘T’ve' been in baseball 16 years,” said Piersall, as he collected his equipment before leaving to join the Mets. “You never know what’s going to happen. A Pirates spokesman said the trade was a straight player deal. The 32-year-old Lynch, noted for his pinch hitting, thus returns to the club with which he broke into the majors. In 1956, after being sent to the Pirates' Hollywood farm club, he was drafted by the Reds. Skinner has been in 34 games this season, is batting .270 and has knocked in eight runs. He has no homers. Lynch has appeared in 22 games, batted .250 and hit two home runs with nine RBI. He hit both his homers this year in pinch-hit roles.
