Rozelle Studies
Secret Papers
NEW YORK (AP) National
Football . League Commissioner
Pete Rozelle confirmed yesterday
that he has received secret court
documents concerning betting on
games by Baltimore Colts owner
Carroll Rosenbloom and is investi
gating them.
Rozelle issued a brief statement
that the documents, stemming
from a 2-year-old court case in
volving the Baltimore owner had
been turned over to the NFL of
fice. -
“We are exploring the allega
tions made in them,” Rozelle said.
Rosenbloom’s lawyers submit
ted the documents. It is not clear
exactly what connection they have
with the current NFL investiga
tion of betting rumors. 1
Lawyers for the Baltimore own
er said it would be a miscarriage
of justice if they were made pub
lic, but insisted they be given to
Rozelle to protect the interests of
Rosenbloom.
Rosenbloom has denied betting
on his own team or any other NFL
team.
