Sorority rusli)is exactly what it is named ash". It is a period of hustle and bustle, little study ing, meeting people. remembering names and wondering what sorer rities will issue return invitations. THE HECTIC LIFE begins in the middle of November and con tinues until Jan. 14. leaving time out for the Christmas recess. The nr , t eventis open houses on Nov. 11, 17 and 18. Any coed interested in participating in formal rush must attend the open houses. 'Registration foi formal rush take place Jan. 3. A term average of 2.3 'for freshmen. and 2.00 for upperclass women -and attendance at all open houses is required to participate in formal rush. Ruh starts in earnest with the first round of chatter dates on Jan. 5 and 8. AT THE SECOND round of chatter, dates 0n.1an..8 and a, there is even more "chattering." At the end of/Chatter dates, the real decision-making begins. So rorities must dec.ide who wild be invited back and rushees must chose the three sororities which most interest them for Bermuda junctions. , Bermuda junctions are so named because the coeds wear Bermuda shorts, kilts or other sports clothes. Jan. 13 is the crucial night for rusluies and sororities. The rush ees. dressed in! eoektail dresses, mad• attend two formal coffee hours which are held in beauti fully-decorated sorority suites. INallouring the second coffee hour, rushees meet with their rush guides and sign cards indicating their preferences in sororities. At the same time the sororities are deciding their . preference of girls as future "raters." THE PREFERENCES, are matched through an IBM machine and bids left in the rushees' room during the afternoon of Jan. 14. The fraternity open houses for freshmen will be held from 2 to 5 p.m. Oct. 7, 14 and 28 and Nov. 11, and 9 . p.m. to 1 a.m. Nov. 17.
