Walker, was honored on Sunday afternoon as the Mother of the Day. Tickets for the concert are being distributed free at' , the Hetcel Union, desk. Ticket ’reservations will be held until 7:45 p.m.: at which, time the doors will be open to the public Miss Troxell and Brown will sing solos in “A German Requiem” by Johanne Brahiris accompan ied by the Chapel Choir under the direction of Willa C. Taylor. THE SYMPHONY Orchestra, ! conducted by Theodore Karhan, ! will play “Sonata Pian e Forte” i by Geovanni Gabrieli and Antonio Vivaldi’s-. “Concerto for Two Trumpets and Strings” Jay Humetson, Ellen Hassman and Daviid Cole, guest cellists, : will be heard irt “Requiem for ■Three Violoncelli and Orchestra.” r ~%' V: ?\:,t All have studied with the noted' cellist, Orlando Cole. j Miss Troxell, now on the music' faculty at Cornell! University, isj a 1937 graduate of. the University, and received a master’s degree in! music education here. She then studied with Elizabeth Schumann! at the Curtis Institute. She was recently named Penn* State Woman of the Year for 1962- and will be recognized at cere-! monies on June Is. j IN .1950. she sidned a contract: with the Metropolitan Opera Co.| She last sang with the Chapel Choir in 1952, when the same Brahm's Requiem [was performed. Miss Troxell went to Europe in 1954, appearing ihost frequently in Germany and Austria. She re turned to the United States last year and accepted the teaching position at Cornell, continuing her concert performances on a limited basis.
