TUESDAY. NOVEMBER 28. 1961 Hall Leads Lions' 47-26 Romp Over Pitt Convincing Victory Leads To Bid From Gator Bowl With Galen Hall playing the best game of his career, Penn State smashed Pitt into oblivion, 47-26, before 37,261 wide-eyed fans at Pitt Stadium Saturday and as a result the Lions are in the Gator Bowl. State accepted the bid last night after a meeting of play ers and coaches with President Eric A. Walker and Athletic Director Ernest B. McCoy. Hall led the assault on the be wildered Panthers by passing for two touchdowns, sunning for two more and generally directing the team in spectacu lar fashion. A smiling Rip Engle singled out Al Gursky for his running, Dave Robinson ("Robinson is playing like Robinson again"), Jim Schwab and Bob Mitinger for their end play, and Captain Jim Smith and the entire line for outstanding work against the Panthers. But it was Hall who sparked the team to the smashing victory. In the process of completing: Roger Kochman on an 8-yard 11-14 passes for 256 yards the, draw play.
