PAGE SIX * Kochman Leads ~ mks With 362 Yards Gained By ,JIM KARL Roger Kochman, who has picked up 107 yards in each of Penn State's past two games, continues to lead all Lion backs in yardage gained on the ground this season. Kochman has gained 362 yards on 65 carries, over 100 more than runnerup Dave Hayes. After a slow start Kochrnan came on strong in the wins over Syracuse and California, and now he's the ball carrier that State depends on to keep the offense moving. And Kochman is right behind Junior Powell in pass receptions with seven catches for 122 yards and two touchdowns. Kochman and Galen Hall team ed up to get State off on the right foot in each of the past two games. The little halfback came into his own last week, picking up 88 yards in 10 carries and hauling in two passes for 54 yards and a touchdown. Powell, who takes a back seat only to Kochman when it comes tb speed, makes the Lions a definite outside threat when-he's in the game. Hall is the leader in total of fense with 394 yards in 57 plays, The senior quarterback has completed 20 of 38 passes for 330 yards and four touch downs and has rushed for 58 yards in 19 carries and another Tl 3. - Hochman is close behind with his 362 yards on the ground-and Hayes is third with 232 yards. An interesting fact revealed by the team statistics is that the Lions have had to punt only 22 times in six games while the op !position has been forced to kick 144 times. State has rushed for 1,300 yards six games while holding the :opposition to 787. The Lions have passed for 779 yards against 596 'for the opponents. Minor Injuries Plague Lions Although Penn State is plagued; with a bevy of minor injuries' going Into Saturday's game with, Maryland at College Park, Reddie Unit halfback Gary Wydman is the only gridder who definitely will not play. Wydman is still suffering from a bruised chest that he sustained in the Syracuse game. Guard Harrison Rosdahi and 'tackle Gerry Farkas have been bothered by knee injuries, but Iteam physician Alfred A. Grim said that both are progressing well and should tee some action against Maryland. Guards Dick Wilson and Bob Hart, hampered with knee in juries, also should be ready to , play. The picture on Dave Robinson I is less clear.
