Monday classes meant that most students had to spend the Fourth of July on campus and the downtown festivities were a welcome diversion. Convict Escapes From Rockview An inmate of Rockview Peni tentary escaped yesterday while outside the prison work ing on a farm crew. Authorities are looking for Leanier J. Hawley, who was serving a term of from 2 to 5 years for burglary, larceny and receiving stolen goods. Hawley was wearing brown twill prison clothing, is 22 years old, 5' 10", and weighs 194 pounds. He is tall, slender, and of medium dark complexion with dark hair. PENNSYLVANIA Car Raffle Pays Off For Dairy Student =II One of two tickets amid thousands won a sleek 1961 wine-colored Cadillac for a University student Tuesday night at the car raffle sponsored by the Alpha Fire Co. The awarding of the car was the climax of the three day carnival held in the 100 block of South Allen St Elwin H. Ream, sophomore in dairy science from Wellsboro, was "overwhelmed" when he heard that he had won the ear. "It's the first time I ever won anything," he said Ream was listening to the broadcast of the raffle draw ing on the radio and "nearly fell through the floor" when he heard his name announced as the winner. Within 10 minutes after he heard the announcement in his apartment in the new dairy sci ence building, Ream was down on Allen St. to accept his prize. Ream purchased his two tickets about three weeks ago from a fel low worker at the dairy barns, he said.
