FRIDAY, MAY 5. 1961 220 Apply For Study Overseas Two hundred and twenty students have submitted pro visional applications for the Study Abroad Program spon sored by the College of Liberal Arts, Dr. Dagobert de Levie, di rector of the program, said yester day. • The official deadline for appli cations was May 1, but de Levie said that an attempt will be made to process and evaluate any late applications. The program is•divided into two plans, an elective study for those who wish to spend one term as registered Penn State students at a foreign university, and a spe cialized study for those who want to take a leave of absence from the University to study. abroad. De Levie announced that over 200 of the applicants requested the elective study program. The applications that we al ready. received are being proc essed by the Liberal Arts com mittee on study abroad," de Levie said. "The committee will attempt to consider those peo not accommodated in the 1962 program again in 1963," he said. "It is hoped that announce ments will be made soon regard ing the country or countries in which the program will be estab lished for the 1962 term,;', he said. "About 50 per cent of the appli cants. have above a 3.0 All-Uni versity average," de Levie said. "Although a high average is a major determining factor in the selection of program participants, it will not necessarily exclude members with a lower average," he said. Dairy Breeding Center Recehies $13,126 Grant A grant, of $13,126 has been re-' ceived by the Dairy Breeding Re search Center from the Pennsyl vania Association of Artificial Breeding Cooperatives• to help ,support its program of dairy breeding research.
