University to
Acting Party
University party will elect an acting chairman at its
caucus meeting tonight to fill the position vacated by Michael
Lazorchak whose resignation became effective March 9.
Lazorchak has resigned because he will be student teach-
ing out of town during the spr
The acting chairman to be
party registration is completed,
i
according to Robert Dufner, elec
tions commission chairman. He•
explained that the position is "in
terim or acting" because at pres
ent there are no party members,
Dufner added that all those
carrying University party cards
are technically considered un
affiliated with the party since
the cards read "Fall Semester."
All such memberships expired
at the beginning of the spring
semester and must be renewed
at spring party registration,
which begins Sunday.
In the meantime, according tot
Dufner, there are no politicall
party members. He said that this,'
applies to Campus party also. Lib
eral party was not established
during fall party registration so;
technically it has no members ei-1
ther.
In electing an interim chair
man for University Party, Duf
ner has decided to open the
elections to all students carry
ing the expired fall member
ship cards. He said this was
done to avoid the impression
that a chairman had been
forced on the party.
Dufrier said that the interim
chairman was being elected be
cause "no ®roue can operate
without a leader." He added that
the only qualification for the po
sition is a fall membership in the
party.
Party registration for spring
elections will begin Sunday night
