MARCH 16. 1961 University to Acting Party University party will elect an acting chairman at its caucus meeting tonight to fill the position vacated by Michael Lazorchak whose resignation became effective March 9. Lazorchak has resigned because he will be student teach- ing out of town during the spr The acting chairman to be party registration is completed, i according to Robert Dufner, elec tions commission chairman. He• explained that the position is "in terim or acting" because at pres ent there are no party members, Dufner added that all those carrying University party cards are technically considered un affiliated with the party since the cards read "Fall Semester." All such memberships expired at the beginning of the spring semester and must be renewed at spring party registration, which begins Sunday. In the meantime, according tot Dufner, there are no politicall party members. He said that this,' applies to Campus party also. Lib eral party was not established during fall party registration so; technically it has no members ei-1 ther. In electing an interim chair man for University Party, Duf ner has decided to open the elections to all students carry ing the expired fall member ship cards. He said this was done to avoid the impression that a chairman had been forced on the party. Dufrier said that the interim chairman was being elected be cause "no ®roue can operate without a leader." He added that the only qualification for the po sition is a fall membership in the party.
