Illegal Phone, Reckless Driving
Cause Probation of Two Students
Two students were put on
probation Thursday night in
joint action taken by the West
Halls Tribunal and the office
of the dean of men, Leroy _S.
Austin, associate dean of men,
said yesterday. !
One of the students who was
apprehended by the Campus Pa-
Itrol for reckless driving was
placed on disciplinary probation
for the balance of the semester,
Austin said. The action was made
i severe because the student failed
!to cooperate with the Campus
Patrol and was djsrepectful to the
patrol, Austin explained.
Austin stated that many stu
dents do not show proper re
spect to Campus Patrolmen. The
Campus Patrol has authority in
many fields and “students must
cooperate or take the conse
quences,” Austin said.
A student on disciplinary pro
bation cannot hold offrices or
head any committees of student
activities. Also a notation of his
probation is placed by his official
transcript. !
The other student was placed
on tribunal probation for the re
mainder of the semester for in
stalling a telephone set in his

he continued, could receive calls
but could not be used to place
calls on.
The telephone company re
moved the equipment but, accord

nary action to the University.

Through the

with Gabbi
With a small weekend here,
everyone can rest up for the
fun next weekend at Pitt.
(There’s such a thing I’ve
found out, as studying for
more bluebooks coming up
soon, but on a weekend? Profs
seem to expect it!) Back to
Pitt. And will that be a wild
time (if you’re at Pitt!). If we
win. the campus won't be tame
either. Whether we win or lose
you’ll want to prepare for the
weekend by visiting Ethel.
IF YOU'RE GOING TO
PITT . . .
and staying with a friend, or
your friend’s parents, you'll
want to take along a gift.
(Have to impress the family,
of course.) To really show
them you’re with it, the ash
tray, lighter, cigarette box,
and letter box set in brown
leather bv Paris will do it.
FOR THE PERSON WHO
HAS EVERYTHING . . .
Ethel’s modern wooden statues
are the perfect solution. Her
traditional and modern fig
urines will complement any
decor. Really out of this world
(and she will be too. when she
sees it).
WANT TO SHOW HER . . .
'(that special girl, I mean) that
she really rates, men? Any girl
loves perfume, and Ethel has
just what she’ll want. Those
purse - size flaconr.ettes of
Tabu, Arpege, or White Shoul
ders are convenient as well as
nice. We also have Hattie Car
negie atomizers with cologne,
or Christian Dior “parfums”
straight from Paris.
GIRLS! TIRED OF THE
SAME OLD THINGS . . .
to wear? Change your acces
sories! Glamorize that special
outfit you're wearing Saturday
night with our cameo brace
lets and necklaces. Add a new
handbag from Ethel’s wide se
lection of suede purses in grey,
black, or brown to comple
ment your outfit.
'Til next weekend and Pitt,
Gabbi
