FRIDAY, NOVEMBER 11. 1960 Cast Chosen For Player Production Casting has been completed for Tennessee Williams’ “Summer and Smoke,” an up coming Players’ production, according to Ellis Grove, in structor in theatre arts and di dector of the play. “Summer and Smoke” will run for six weekends at. Center Stage beginning Dec. 2. Mary Lee Sheftic, graduate stu dent in theatre arts, has been chosen for the role of Alma Wine miller, the female lead. She will play the part of a Southern min ister’s daughter who is torn be tween a desire to maintain her ideals of “the spiritual woman” and her more sensual love for “the boy next door.” Edward A. Anderson, graduate student in theatre arts, will play John Buchannan Jr., the object of Alma’s worldly concern. He, too, is attracted to Alma but cannot understand her obsession for placing care of the soul over their love. The plot follows the develop ment of these two characters and the effects of their conflict on each other’s personality. Other members of the cast in clude Vincent Landro,, Anne N. Russell distributed a question naire asking for both popular and electoral vote predictions by state as well as the total estimate for the country. Predicting the outcome of pres idential. elections has been Rus sell’s hobby for the last three or four elections. Knowing and understanding the electoral college system is important to a teacher in answer ing the many questions of stu dents during election year.
