Delta Sigma Phi
For IM Football

Delta Sigma Phi stopped Sigma
Chi' in overtime last night to
qualify for the IM football play
offs which begin Wednesday.
Delta Sigma Phi and Sigma Chi
were tied, 1-1, in firstdowns at
the end of regulation play, but
Delta ,Sig drove 15 yards into
Sigma Chi territory for the win.
Two independent league cham
pionships also were. decided last
night. Cedar, which hadn't given
up a point in three previous
games, preserved its perfect rec
ord with a 14-9 victory over
Locust.
Bill Clark passed for the two
Cedar touchdowns, while Tom
Pugh's hard rushing resulted in
a safety. . |
Unbeaten Poplar rounded out 1
its league play with a 3-1 first!
down win over Chestnut. j
Phi Sigma Delta also won on
first downs, 3-1, over Alpha Tau
Omega.
Birch scored a first period TD
on a pass from Chuck Caffareli to
Harold Stein and then held on to
stop Larch 7-6.
Stein’s extra point provided
the winning margin after Larch
scored late in the game. i
Butternut broke its losing
streak to beat Walnut, 7-0, and
ended Walnut's chances for a

with an easy 26-0 win over Sig
ma Alpha Mu. Dave Maize hit for
three of Kappa Sigs’ scores, while
Harry Saxer scored on an inter
cepted pass.
Skip Foulk of Balsam passed
for two touchdowns to lead his
team to a 12-0 win over Maple.
Foulk threw to teammates Bob
Olson and Buz Evans for the'
scores.
| —Although Syracuse and Army
have met just 11 times on the
gridiron, their rivalry is one of
the nation’s oldest. Tire first game
was in 1699.

Temple Tomorrow
Penn State's booters, fresh from
an upset victory over Navy, will
try to make it two in a row to
morrow when they face Temple
at Philadelphia.
Coach Pete Leaness’ Owls have
