PAGE EIGHT Campus To Set Student and administrative leaders representing all the University's commonwealth campuses met here last night to establish the Organization of Student Government Associ- ations These leaders will be responsible for stating the organ ization's immediate objectives, and organizational structure and policy, Merle E. Campbell, dean of student. affairs for common wealth campuses, said. Campbell said the OSGA, will as proposed, maintain inter-cam pus communications, develop pro grams for training student gov ernment officers, and. plan and conduct an annual encampment for the University's student lead ers The group was welcomed by Student - Government --Association President Richard Haber, Dr. Robert G. Bernreuter, special as sistant to the president for stu dent affairs, and Campbell. The Administrative Committee on Student AffairS, consisting of l‘lartin L. Zeigler. director of resi dent student affairs; George . L.. Donovan. coordinator of student affairs. and Merle. E. Campbell, committee chairman, set forth four objectives for the group to consider: •To provide for an exchange of ideas and techniques in the various areas of student extra curricular endeavor. sTo provide a means for the dissemenation of information on University policy, philosophy and ideals among respon , ible student leaders. •To develop student lead,:‘,-ship by discussion and example. •To orient student leaders from the various campuses as to means by which the student bodis of these campuses may eventunlly lie better integrated. The proposed plans includo rec ommendations for three OSGA meetines per year and a "Con gress' for all the student govern ments of the University. Last year, $3200 was contri buted by fa c ult y members, , !Rutschky said. The annual canvassing is de ; isigned to acquaint the faculty and staff with the work and purposes .;of the UCA, Rutschky said that funds, he said. Since the University does not contribute to the operating budget of the UCA. Rutschky said that the group's funds must come from the faculty contributions, member churches of the UCA and stu dents. —The total value of all Univer sity buildings and equipment is more than $309,000,000. Tareyton has the tast Dual Filter does it! 4 Students Placed On Probation Four students were placed on probation Wednesday night , 'by the Nittany Area Student 'Tribunal, according to Leroy S. Austin, associate dean of men. All four were participating in a battle involving two fire ex tinguishers. One student who had not han dled the fire extinguishers but was throWing water arourd was given a tribunal probation, Aus itin said yesterday afternoon. He will lose no privileges but this ! probation will be considered in case he ,is involved in any fur ther trouble, he added. Another student who had no previous offenses but had taken active part in the battle was put on probation with the office of the dean of men. This penalty. Austin said, does not result in any loss of privileges. Two boys with previous of: fences were put on disciplinary probation by the tribunal. These cases are pending until Austin talks with the students. Last week the Senate Sub committee on Discipline put one student who had taken part in the incident on suspended sus pension for the rest of the year. —Penn State has one of the largest university film libraries in the East (established 1941). SGA Thrift Flight to Europe Will Cost Less This Year Students flying to Europe next summer, via the SGA Student Plan, will be able to go for $25 less than those who went last summer. This year, SGA is again offer ing its Thrift Flight to Europe for students, faculty and staff of the University but the cost per person has gone down from $285 to $260. • • According to Richard Haber, SGA president, 76 Penn Staters made the trip last summer and many more are expected to go this corning summer. The flight will also be $260 un der this plan with an extra $599 for accommodations and meals, thus bringing the total cost to $659.
