FRIDAY, OCTOBER 14. 1960 Grad Series To Present Guest Prof Dr. Roy Blough, economist and professor of international business at Columbia Univer sity, will present the firSt of the Graduate School Lecture Series at 8 p.m. Tuesday in 121 Sparks. Ife - will speak on "Nationalism and Organized World Economy." From 1938 to 1946 Blough was serving with the U.S. Department as director of tax research and as sistant to the secretary. He is the author of "Faring the Tax Problem" and "Federal Tax ing Process," and from 1947 to 1950 was editor of the National Tax Journal. A native of Pittsburgh, Blough received his bachelor of arts de gree from Manchester College in Indiana and his master of arts degrees and doctor• of philosophy degrees from the University of Wisconsin, He taught at Manchester Col lege for severfil years in the 1930'5. Blough joined the University of Chicago faculty in 1946 as professor of economics and pol itical science and has been at Columbia since 1955. In 1949. he participated in a tax advisory mission to the Turkish government and from 1952 to 1955 was nrincipal direc tor with the department of eco nomic affairs of the United Na tions. The. lecture is co-sponsored by the Economics Faculty Seminar and the Graduate School. DAR to Hear Reader Group The University Readers will : present a program Tuesday for; the Daughters of the American' Revolution organization in Clear.: field. - I The program, "If Freedom Fails " will include a dual reading by Mary Louise Pappas, junior in arts in letters from Vil lanova, and Sheila Cohen, junior in arts and letters from Pitts burgh. It is entitled "What is America?" by Ben Hecht and Charles MacArthur. Maxwell Anderson's "A Letter to Jackie" and Carl Sandburg's "Elephants Are Different to Dif ferent People" will both be read by -Miss Pappas. `The Lottery" by Shirley Jackson will be pre sented by Miss Cohen.
