PAGE EIGHT Labor Conference Dr. J. J. Kaufman, professor of economics, has participated in a conference of over 100 railroad labor officials sponsored by the New York State School of Indus trial and Labor Relations, Cornell University, and the five operat ing brotherhoods. The conference was held last week at Ithaca, N.Y. At the conference Dr. Kaufman presented a paper on the trends and experiences in the railroad industry with respect to handling the technological displacement of railroad workers. He noted that currently railroad workers face a loss of jobs as a result of the at tempt of the railroads to change the working rules and to merge and consolidate. He indicated that there are certain special problems facing railroad workers, pointing to their high degree of immobility. Froke to Present Paper Marlowe D. Froke, assistant professor of journalism, will pre sent a paper entitled "Newsroom Personnel Problems" at the meet ing of the Radio-Television News Directors Association to be held Oct. 6 in Montreal Canada.
