University Budget Set For '6O-'6l An estimated $5O million will be spent by the Univers ity in operating expenses next year, William Christoffers, di rector of the division of ac counting, said yesterday. This is a S 5 million increase of the $45 million budget on which the University operated this year, he said. The money used to run the Uni versity is obtained from tuition fees, state and federal allocations and research grants awarded for individual research projects. Last November the state al located I , $34 million to the Uni versity for the biennium which began last January. This was 910 million less than President Eric A. Walker had requested. ' A new request for funds will not come before the legislature again until 1961. The exact distribution of avail able funds for the next fiscal year has not been determined. Accord ing to Christoffers, each depart ment and division submits an esti mate of their financial needs to the Controllers officer. The final expenditures will then be deter mined and the budget submitted to the Board of Trustees for ap proval.
