PENNSYLVANIA Assembly Opposes Alternates For Student Teacher Absentees By CAROL BLAKESLEE The SGA Cabinet last night by a narrow margin opposed having alternates for Assem bly members who are student teaching. The vote was two for and three against a bill proposed by James Kridel (C.-Soph.) and Jacqueline Myers, alternate Assemblyman. The bill asked that the SGA Con stitution be amended to allow al ternates to sit for Assembly mem bers who are obliged to be off the TOM & JERRY'S SUB SHOPPES campus to meet academic require ments. Kridel said he felt it was dis criminatory to allow no alter nates at all, since 18 to 23 per cent of the students on campus are en rolled in the College of Education. He said, however, that those who lose their Assembly seats because of a lower average should not be allowed to have alternates. Rules Committee Chairman Jay Hawley said that a better means of choosing alternates should be devised rather that just putting the names on the campaign pos ter as Kridel suggested. maker of the PHILADELPHIA STEAK SANDWICH and the ever popular 15" SUB corner of S.
