The lecture is sponsored by the Graduate School Lecture Series and Gamma Sigma Delta, thy• honorary society in agricul tMe. Seat,, who is profc',sor of bot any, graduated from Ohio Wes leyan University and received his master of ads degree from the University of Nebraska and his doctor of philosophy degree from the University of Chicago. Ile began his teaching career at Ohio State University and taught at the University of Ne hi aska, the University of Okla homa, Teachers College at Colum bia and at Oberlin College before his appointment to the Yale fac ulty in 1950. Sears has served as president of the Nebiavka Academy of Science and in 1956 was president of the Amei lean Association for the Advancement of Science. He served as secretary-general of the Botanical Society of America from 1924 to 1928 and is a past president of the Zoological So ciety of America. Since 1956 he has been chair man of the Ohio Wildlife Council of the National Audubon Society.
