occupied a frame structure, which
was near the University power
plant and was torn down to make
possible the construction of Ham
mond Engineering Building.
Walker Lab has been the head
quarters of the petroleum refining
laboratory for the past two years.

Top Essay Prizes
William Shenk, junior in meteo-j
rology from Washington, D.C., and
Joel Myers, junior in meteorology
from Philadelphia, were award
ed first and second prizes, re-',
spectively, in the national essay:
contest sponsored by the Ameri-
I can Meteorological Society.
Shenk won $l5O for his paper
titled "Forecasting of Hurricane
Motions" and Myers was given
$lOO for his "Snowfall Variations,
in Philadelphia."

In Red Cross Drive
A total of 323 pints of blood!
were collected in the Red Cross!
blood drive sponsored by Alpha
Phi Omega and Gamma Sigma
Sigma, national service frater
nity and sorority, according to
Harry Hager, co-chairman.
The drive was held Wednesday
.and yesterday in the Hetzel Union
Building,
A goal of 300 pints had been
set prior to the drive, Hager said.
More than 100 walk-ins put the
drive over the top, he said.
Members of the Red Cross Re
gional Blood Center in Johnstown
took the donations.
