University Criticized For 'Leftist 7 Talks A patriotic organization criticized the University for the appearance of “left-wing speakers,” the Associated Press re ported yesterday. An editorial in the newslet! of the Sons of the America Gaston Elected President of Eng Council Charles Gaston, junior from Lancaster, .was elected presi dent of the Engineering-Archi tecture student council last night. He was opposed by Alexander Cimochovvski, junior from Forest City; Gary Robinson, junior from Detroit, Mich.: and Carles Barb, eighth semester student in archi tecture from Rosemont. The position of vice president was won by Gerald Logue, sopho more from Parker City. He was opposed by Cimochowski. Elected to the treasurer’s post was Cimochowski who was op posed by Jerome Gartman, fresh man from Reading. Linda Leuthold, freshman from Wood Ridge, N.J., was elected re cording secretary. She was op posed by Gartman who was then unanimously elected correspond ing secretary. In other business, the council voted to offer its aid and services to an open house which will be held for all freshman engineering students April 25 in the HUB ball room. Frick said Miss Jane E. Gris wold, supervisor of feeding opera tions, had told him Food Service was considering the extensions, but was undecided as to what would be done. He said the em ployes would have to be paid overtime for the time they worked after 10 p rn., the regular Lion’s Den closing hour. At a previous meeting the board had requested Frick to look into the extension, which was recommended because of the later women's hours. In other business, the board de cided to hold final nominations and elections for officers on April 1 6. Preliminary nominations were loDened last night, but none were made. Any member of the Board of Governors may be nominated. An Jindependent man who is not a [member of the board may be [nominated by a petition signed Iby 100 independent men. Candi dates for president must have at least a 2.4 All-University average jand must be a junior or senior; candidates for vice president, sec retary and treasurer must have at least a 2.0 All-University average.
