SATURDAY, FEBRUARY 27, 1960 DuMars Returns 'Home' As Cagers Meet Panthers Mark DuMars returns to the scene of some of his greatest performances tonight when Penn State (10-9) meets Pitt (10-13) in the Pitt Field House. It was in the Field House in 1957 that DuMars led Sharon High School to the Western Pennsylvania Championship and from there Sharon went on to cop * * * the state title. Penn State's DuMars now one of the leading scorers in the na tion with a 21.8 average, was the big gun as Sharon swept past such powers as 1956 state champ Farrell, Oliver High of Pitts burgh and undefeated McKees port. He was at his best against Mr Keesport, scoring 22 points a: Sharon broke the Tigers' 24-gam( winning streak. But he didn't do it alone. He gol plenty of help from one Johi Fridley who will be in the Pit lineup tonight. Any time the Panthers any State get together in Pittsburg} the town of Sharon turns out ei masse to watch their two favori sons battle it out. Last year a bus caravan saw DuMars, then a sophomore, play Pitt's great All-American Don Hennob to a standstill. Fridley had a good night too and was the game's leading rebounder. Tonight's game will be the sec and of the season between the tw teams. State beat Pittsburgh in wild and wooly affair, 75-64, la! month in Rec Hall. Despite their sub .500 record, the Panthers have been extremely tough at home this year. losing only to such powers as West Vir ginia, Navy, and NYU. _ _ _ _ Penn State, on the other hand, hasn't been a "road" team. They've only copped two qames away from Rec Hall—at Buck nell and Carnegie Tech. State will be depending heavi ly on the outside shooting of Du- Mars and captain Wally Colender tonight in an effort to upset the Panthers Joining the two backcourt stars in the starting lineup, will be Bill Saul, Jack Trueblood and Paul Sweetland.
