The type of personality a person has is largely dependent on how much of his self he gives to others and how much he keeps for himself. We have all met the extremes on both ends of the scale . . . the extrovert and the introvert. But, most of us fall in the im mense in-between, having both qualities in varying degrees. In evaluating ourselves, we tend to think of giving friendship, kind ness, love, etc, but there is another kind of giving, a negative giving which we forget or suppress when we examine ourselves; but which others receive just the same . . . the giving of despair, disillusionment, destructive criticism, hate, etc. In a moment of anger or dissatisfaction, we rip into those around us . . . friends, family, strangers. We dream up some far-fetched rationalization or. for our outbursts, completely forgetting the damage we have caused to others. It is not enough to say that your attiude is your business, because it isn't. Your attitude affects all those around you. The slicing remark or the enlarged rumor which you make to an acquaintance or friend, may very well leave a scar ri;7 4 on him and on your friendship . . . a scar which all the apologies . 4 1 ,y0u could ever make will never erase. 3 1 ' Our Lady of Victory Roman Catholic Church 215 West Fairmount Avenue Rev.
