secret ballots in the 82-nation
UN General Assembly. More vot
ing will take place today.

The Assembly quickly elected
Ecuador and Ceylong for two
year seats on the 11-nation Coun
cil, then bumped into the dead-,
lock between Turkey and Poland.l
Each year the Assembly elects
three nonpermanent represen
tatives to the Council, the UN's
most powerful political body.
The United States, Britain,
France, the Soviet Union and
Nationalist China are perma
nent members.

t eisity urged a more rounded
education for foresters yetserday.
Speaking at the 84th annual
meeting of the American Fores
try Association, Dr. Walker sug
gested a seven-year course of
study instead of the present four.

of forestry, adding:
"America cannot afford waste.
The time has come .. , to develop
a multi-tiered system of forestry
education that will permit each
student to develop to the full
level of his potential"

four fashionable Jewelry stores
during the weekend and vanished
with a record haul of gems. Scot

stock gone.

Economic Study
PITTSBURGH (1P) —A study of
the potential economic impact of
national disarmament was sug
gested yesterday by Gov, David
L. Lawrence.
The governor proposed forma
tion of a federal-state-local gov
ernment committee. This commit
tee would make plans for the per
iod of ecenonmic change following
any large scale cutback in the de
fense spending.
Lawrence Roted that tSovi
Premier Nikita Khrush.chev ad
vanced a proposal for world dis
armament during his recent tour
of the United States. The governor
also pointed out that the topic is
on the United Nations agenda.
