Schnelle has been named assistant head of general placement in the University Placement Service. For the past two years he was assistant to the dean of admis sions at the University of Penn sylvania and earlier taught Eng lish and social studies at Hatch Preparatory School, Newport, RI. He served from 1953 to 1956 in the U.S. Army. Schnelle, a native of Boston. Mass., received his bachelor of science degree in education from the University of Pennsylvania. The students have all ready covered such areas of agricul ture as bee and honey research, the workings of the 4-H Clubs, the philosophy and organization of extension, and the use of publicity, and have spent 18 days observing the Extension Service Summer School at Cor nell University. Still on the program for the students is a seminar on county observations, to discuss their county experiences and observa tion periods, a tour of south eastern Pennsylvania, j Among the countries represent ed at the worksnop are Brazil, ! China, Ghana, British Guiana, :Korea, Libya, Pakistan, Somalia, iSudan, Yugoslavia, and Jamaica. Biologists To Attend Institute Over 3300 members of 18 asso ciations in the biological field will attend the American Insti tue of Biological Sciences Aug. 29 through Sept. 3 at the Uni versity. The primary groups which will attend the institute are college professors and members of ex perimental stations conducted by the government. Some of the lead ing figures in the field of biology from the United States, Mexico and Canada will attend. One general meeting of the group will be held and the rest of the institute will be devoted to separate meetings. At these meetings members of the asso ciations will present papers on the latest developments in biol ogy and the progress in biological sciences. Each year the institute is held at a different college or univer sjty in the country. This is the first time the meetings will be held at the University.
