PAGE EIGHT Department Material Shown in Library In honor of National Library Week, a display has been set up in the Fred Lewis Pattee Library containing material from different departments of the library. The purpose of this display is to acquaint students with certain areas of the library which are less familiar to them. From the periodicals depart ment are newspapers and maga zmes from foreign countries. The newspapers include The London Times. El Universal from Mexico,l Le Figaro from Italy, and Lai Monde from France. There are; magazines on display from the . Netherlands, Mexico, England,l Germany, Pakistan and South Af- 1 rica. SDX Plans Smoker For Anniversary The University Chapter of Sig ma Delta Chi, men's professional murrialistie fraternity, wil! cele brate the fiftieth anniversary of the fraternity's founding with a smoker for prospective members at 7:30 p m. tomorrow at Phi Sig ma Kappa fraternity. The fraternity was founded by 10 men at DePauw University in Greencastel, Ind., April 17, 1909. At present, membership in the fraternity totals over 16,J00 writ ers, reporters, editorialists, Jour nalism students and newspaper executives. The University chapter, one of the 71 undergraduate chapters, located at accredited journalism' schools, was founded 26 years ago.! Membership in the local chapter! presently is 15. The record collection contains everything from read ings by Faulisuer to jazz by Louis Armstrong. Language records in French, Spanish, Norwegian, Ger man, Italian, Portuguese and Russian are available. Language and speech records can be obtained at the stack entrance desk, and must be used in the library. Oliver said most persons seemed rto realize that there was a drill scheduled for yesterday, but that most of them probably did not 'know the meaning of the various sirens.
