Application Deadline
Set for Readmission
The Academic Standards Committee has set up an applica
tion deadline for students who have been dropped from the
University and wish to be reinstated, Arthur D. Brickman,
professor of mechanical engineering and chairman of the
committee, said.
The deadline will be 30 days before registration begins.
This move, according to Brick
man, is not designed to make it
mere difficult for students to gain
readmittance to the University,
but to streamline procedural op
erations for reinstatement.
"As far as I can see," Brickman
said, "there has been no change
in "policy with regard to rein
statement. It may be that the
deans' offices are becoming more
rigorous on whom they recom

putting into writing, procedures
which have been in operation for
years."
Brickman said the committee
hopes to have the deadline in
effect with each • dean's office
before the end of the present
semester. He said the largest
number of requests for rein

three weeks from the end of the
semester, and the committee, by

hoping to lessen the work load
for the deang' staffs.
"Often a student waits until a
few days before registration to
come to the dean of his college.
We hope to set up a reasonable
sort of time limit which would
make our work a little easier and
take a little of the work from
the deans," he said.
"I don't think it will work any
particular hardship on a student,"
he continued, "because any 'dead
line we institute won't be an ab

be given special consideration."
He said as far as basic policy
went, he could see no upswing in
the number of reinstatement ap
