Cooper, assistant pro fessor of agronomy extension, died June 16 in Centre County Hospital after becoming ill in Ty son Building. He was 53. He received his bachelor of sci ence degree in horticulture in 1928 from the University and joined the faculty in 1937. He had also worked as propa gator at Jackson and Perkins Nurseries, Newark, N.Y.; orchard ist at • Thorn Hill School, Alle gheny County; orchardist and as sistant farm manager at Hillcrest Farms, Chester, W. Va.; super visor with the Farm Security Ad ministration and conservationist with the U.S. Department of Ag riculture's Soil Conservation Ser vice. In recent years Mr. Cooper worked full time on fin e turf management. He 'wrote two pop ular Agricultural Extension bul letins, "Establishing a New Lawn" and "Lawn Management." He was a member of the Amer ican Society of Agronomy, Delta Sigma Phi fraternity, the Exten sion Professors Association and Epsilon Sigma Phi,, national ex tension fraternity.
